Bulverde Standard: Carrie Isaac Seeks District 73 Rep. Seat
On Monday, October 25, 2021, Governor Greg Abbott signed into law the new redistricting maps changing most district boundaries. It was particularly true in House District 73 when the present representative, Kyle Biedermann was essentially ousted and chose not to run again. The HD73 map now takes in all of Comal County and Western Hays County which includes Dripping Springs, Driftwood and Wimberley. These two areas have an approximate 200,000 residents. The new district is 60% Republican which puts the primary as critical to win.
Carrie Isaac, a strong contender, is one of several vying for the house seat. She was previously the Republican nominee for HD45 in 2020. Her solid family values makes her a perfect candidate for HD73. Comal and Hays Counties would be fortunate to be represented by a female who is pro-family, prolife and pro-2A. She is the mother of two teenage boys, 17 and 19 years of age and is married to Jason Isaac for over 21 years. Her family enthusiastically supports her in her endeavor to be a state representative.
Isaac’s compassion for others was instilled in her by her father who served in the military. This led her to seek help for veterans in need of economic support. She is the current Executive Director of DEWIT, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to veterans.
Texas has one of the highest property tax rates in the United States. Isaac’s number one priority for residents of HD73 is to find relief on property taxes. She would like to eliminate the M&O, maintenance and operations, property taxes in Texas. Her preference is to buy down school district M&O property taxes using state GRR, general revenue-related funds, surplus dollars above the state’s spending limit until those property taxes are eliminated.
Her second priority is securing the Texas Mexico border by increasing funding for border security, which include building a strong wall to deter entrance by illegal immigrants and stopping the magnets that encourage illegal immigration.
Isaac’s third priority is the Texas Electric Grid. We all felt the impact of the Historic Texas freeze. Some Texas residents are still working through this monstrous failure. She commented that she will fight, “The Green New Deal policies that threaten our electric grid and implement reforms to ensure a reliable Texas grid.”
Women have always had to work harder than men to prove that they are capable and knowledgeable to accomplish what may seem impossible to some, which include women. Today’s women are equipped to stand their ground in whatever field they want to excel in. Isaac is one of these women who is willing to take chances, ignore the jeers of the opposition and enter the arena to win.
I proudly stand with Carrie Isaac because I too know the agony of defeat and the glory of victory. As a member of our community she is not a stranger and can relate to the issues facing this area. She is an uplifting voice in the hill country and as she told me, “I am an everyday person, willing to fight for everyday people in the Texas House.”
VOTE CARRIE ISAAC HD73.
